The Fairy Books Department
The mysterious and magical world of faeries has captivated artists and writers for centuries. This enchanting calendar brings together twelve stunning interpretations of faeryland by contemporary artists, and the inspiring words of writers from Dante Gabriel Rossetti to Gerard Manley Hopkins
Kajsa Flinkfeldt is a devoted lover of fairytales and fantasy. She believes faeries can be anything from annoying to angelic, and tries to make their bodies and clothes reflect their unique personalities
Jessica Galbreth is celebrated for her ability to capture the haunting and often mysterious beauty of faeries. Each of her visions, brought to life on paper, has a personality of its own.
Linda Ravenscroft's main influences are a love of nature, and a fascination for myths and ancient legends.'In my view the Fay represents the natural world we live in, and...they have a place in our modern day society, more now than they ever did.'
Josephine Wall has had a passion for light and color, fantasy and visual storytelling since she was a child. She is influenced by the illustrative talents of Arthur Rackham, the romanticism of the Pre-Raphelites, and the surrealism of Magritte and Dali.
Myrea Pettit whose vignettes can be seen on the calendar months is renowned for her detailed work with flowers, fairies and butterflies. Influenced by Swedish artist Ann Mari Sjogren, by the creations and stories of Beatrix Potter, Margaret Tarrant and Kate Greenaway her world is one with nature, children and preservation of flora and fauna.
