Dragons
"I have been fascinated by dragons and how they keep appearing in my fairy world as a subject of my artist friends. I have taken to studying the symbolism and background history of this mythical creature more closely, the way it has affected the cultures of peoples around the world for thousands of years, a magnificent beast breathing fire with commanding strength, making heroes out of men that have famously slain a dragon, it is worshipped as a bringer of good fortune, symbolised as emblems on flags of nations, and revered in religion uniting heaven and earth."
"Little wonder with computer technology that the dragon is a natural star of role playing games, appearing a popular phenomenon of interest in new games, books and films. You can find some wonderful information here about Dragons. My own creative imagination is stirred to draw and paint some dragons but not until I have finished my current Last Dodo picture. I was so impressed on my South America travels to the Galapagos Islands to see what may be related dragon minatures, the land iguanas and marine iguanas not one, but be be among thousands of them was creatively inspiring." Here is a slide show of minature dragonlike creatures, the protected species of land and marine Iguanas found in the Pacific on the Galapagos Islands
"Meanwhile I am in admiration of two legendary artists I consider the masters of creative and imaginative fantasy and particularly their dragons. Whilst you may see but a small selection of their work here, please do go and visit the websites of Boris Vallejo and Ciruelo."
