Goddess of Rebirth - Tracy R.Cardinet2012©Cal USA
Cloak of flowers shields her form
As she passes sleeping things
Winter’s trail, now bright and warm
With each footstep, summons spring
.
Beloved goddess, bodice green
Peeking out between her cape
Lovely hair, a golden sheen
Amulet, clasped at her nape
Magic staff of driftwood, smooth
Offers it up, to the sky
Verdant buds, as if to soothe
Caress the trees, create a sigh
.
In dreary dark of winter’s hold
Softest snow still sugars ground
Looks as though not one bit cold
As she stops to look around
.
‘Neath bare feet, where once was ice
Grass and tulips, in array
Wintertime is lovely, nice
Quietly, it fades away
.
Living things awake and sing
Song birds, song birds everywhere
Suddenly — yes — it is spring
Rushing in without a care
.
Goddess-fair, with silken skin
Features warm as morning sun
Welcome back, my faerie friend
It’s your time now, with winter done
.
Mother Nature sends her child
Bearer of what’s good and sprightly
Living things, both tame and wild
Hold fast to spring, and hold it lightly
.
