ARTV Art Awards
Alayne has been nominated for the prestigious 2007 ARTV awards in the category of watercolor. The female spirit is a central theme in the paintings of award winning artist, Alayne Abrahams. The sculpted faces of the Italian Renaissance artists, particularly Botticelli and many of the Pre-Raphaelite painters inspire her. Their work influences her imagery, which draws upon a natural inclination to express the child within, where the imagination is free to explore all possibilities and combinations, including the ability to believe in fairies, angels and goddesses.
Trained in drawing since childhood, Alayne earned a B.S. degreefrom the University of Maryland and a Certificate in Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Md. Ms. Abrahams exhibited at Chalk Farm Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the spring of 2002. Her paintings have also been exhibited throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, and hang in numerous private collections. She was a member of the Washington Watercolor Association and has exhibited in the juried Mid-Atlantic Watercolor Show. She is currently a member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society and will publish her first children’s book next month. Alayne currently resides in the Philadelphia suburbs.
The awards ceremony will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada September 28th and 29th, 2007. For more information, visit ARTV
