If you were coming in the Fall,
I’d brush the Summer by
With half a smile, and half a spurn,
As Housewives do, a Fly.
If I could see you in a year,
I’d wind the months in balls —
And put them each in separate Drawers,
For fear the numbers fuse —
If only Centuries, delayed,
I’d count them on my Hand,
Subtracting, till my fingers dropped
Into Van Dieman’s Land.
If certain, when this life was out —
That yours and mine, should be
I’d toss it yonder, like a Rind,
And take Eternity —
But, now, uncertain of the length
Of this, that is between,
It goads me, like the Goblin Bee —
That will not state — its sting.

The Mushroom is the Elf of Plants —
At Evening, it is not —
At Morning, in a Truffled Hut
It stop upon a Spot
As if it tarried always
And yet its whole Career
Is shorter than a Snake’s Delay
And fleeter than a Tare —
‘Tis Vegetation’s Juggler —
The Germ of Alibi —
Doth like a Bubble antedate
And like a Bubble, hie —
I feel as if the Grass was pleased
To have it intermit —
This surreptitious scion
Of Summer’s circumspect.
Had Nature any supple Face
Or could she one contemn —
Had Nature an Apostate —
That Mushroom — it is Him!

It really isn’t that easy
To ride a Bumble Bee
It is difficult to keep your seat
Without falling off you see
They are like a buzzing bronco
And ever minute your in danger
They vibrate and wobble as they fly –
I hang on just like a Texas Ranger
Any other transport
Would be better I’m sure by far
If it were only practical
I would rather go by car
But cars can’t crossover gardens
Or weave in and out the flowers
I’d just get caught up in the traffic
And the journey would take hours
So I really have no option
But to risk a broken neck
I grip tight with clenched fists and knees
And pray I don’t hit the deck
It is not easy being a Bee Fairy
Any day I could end up dead
You can’t imagine just how great it feels
To get back home to bed

The Angel

I’m the Angel of the worlds forgotten folk
People that have slipped between the cracks
Those that think they are destined for destruction
And that there’s no hope of turning back
Its my job to show them an alternative
To pour enlightenment on their doom
To wake them from their nightmare
And bounce sunbeams around their room
I explain why life can be quite wonderful
Regardless of their misery or their plight
I inspire them with possible solutions
For I am the Angel that sets things right
If your curious about what I look like
I’m traditionally angelic like a Dresden doll
But appearances are not important
When your dealing with someone’s soul
But I’ve the ability to change my appearance
So you never see me come and go
I could be your next-door neighbour
Or perhaps a Robin in the snow
My magic has no boundaries
And my manifestation has no set form
I just come to Earth to fix people up
As the Angel of the Forgotten and Forlorn
So if you are feeling down and out
And it seems the worlds unfair
Take a careful look at those around
For undoubtedly I’m there

Pegasus

The sound of silent hoof beats
Comes thundering across my sky
As the invisible image of Pegasus
Speedily gallops by
Unseen and unheard by mortals
But nevertheless he is there
Prancing for all the God’s to see
His beauty beyond compare
Of course mortals like me can see him
But we have to close our eyes
And imagine with the purest hearts
Then he’ll come racing through our skies
Yes – It’s easy for me as a poet
For my mind is full of dreams
And sometimes I even ride him
Because my fantasies reach extremes
I pity those whose existence is mundane
Without fantasy and fairies in their lives
Missing out on so much joy
Plus the happiness that’s derived
They see poetry just as typed out words
And are not able to cavort amongst their dreams
For them there is no Pegasus – Just monotony
And a life of endless screams

On a pure crystal star –
A trillion light years away
Magical creatures are assembling
To have their say. . . .
It seems that within living memory
They faded from the Earth –
Now they want to return
To re-establish their worth
For without them the Earth Planet
Just cannot survive –
So they feel returning is essential
Hence they have begun to contrive
Their plan is to re-establish
The magic balance that’s been lost
So an urgent offensive is vital –
No matter the cost
Currently they’re debating recruitment
With exciting new features
With their propaganda including
Some popular Earth story creatures
So canonization of new creatures
Like Toad, Ratty, and Mole
Is quite likely to happen
And they will take on a new role
But as you know Mr Toad is impatient
And he hates to wait long
So whilst the conference was debating
He has composed a Toad marching song
Once the conference has reached
Its final conclusion
The Phoenix will rise
And it will not be an illusion
Likewise all magical creatures
Will assemble and fall into line
And some will fly to Earth direct
Whilst others will race back in time
For to re-establish their magic
They will use all the tricks in the book
So some will go back to the past
And take a fresh look
They will wipe out all memories
Of those that don’t believe
As it’s just for their own good
And is not meant to harm or deceive
And a new Fairy Kingdom
Will be fresh in all children’s heads
Newly consecrated fairies like Alice and Snow White
Will take turns to visit the children in bed
And the old pitiful Earth Planet
Will re-bloom and take on new cheer
For the world will be so happy
Once the Fairies are back here

The Unicorn sat in his unified world
Below him all God’s heavens twirled
He was monitoring the thoughts of those in his charge
Diverting any evil dreams at large
His mental powers were like a shield
Diverting any nightmares that were afield
Ensuring children slept in gentle peace
And all their nocturnal agitation cease
He is the original dream catcher of aeons past
But he too is worrying – will his powers last
As fairies and goblins fade away
Will Unicorns also disappear one day
As sure as the sun throws earth the moon’s silhouette
How can Santa Claus and Fairies come under threat
When mortals know that the heavens – are beyond comprehension
How can they reject magic and put fairyland into contention
The Unicorn is aware few children now believe what their mothers say
And that most family values are challenged and begin to fray
But how can the world exist without a fairy realm
Surly just mortal reality alone will overwhelm
And as traditions and values are flouted and put to the test
Children will eventually be full of anguish – and over stressed
But to change inevitable development is not a Unicorn’s responsibility
He is aware it is not his vocation and is far beyond his ability
Yes – one day just like the fairies he may fade away . . .
And re-emerge in fairy heaven to live out his days
For there is a mystical paradise where magic is unimpeded
And its full of fellow unicorns and fairy friends – all no longer needed

A tribute to Aimee the Special Fairy
All the fairies of the World
Are gathering near Yorkhill
The Fairy King has summoned them
To help bring Aimee their goodwill
There are fairies from all over . .
From China to the U.S.A
They all insist on coming
They all want to have a say
They are all determined that little Aimee
Will receive their very best of wishes
And they’re arranging to take turns
At smothering her with kisses
They will sprinkle her with fairy dust
Which is sure to bring her strength and laughter
So that soon this worrying time will be past
Then Aimee sure will be – Happy Ever After
They have come from all around the world
And their love is truly meant
For these are special Fairies
For they are Heaven sent
Best Wishes from Albert

The Elf
- Isilwen Anwamanë©2005

The lady wearing silver calls but I don’t hear a thing
The Lady waits as I stand watching wild running wind
And spirits call as the rivers sing
The forest quiet and dark
I search the world without success
I try to find my markMagic is leaving, the world. It is an unpleasant sight
I fear what it has become but cannot find the light
The lady wearing silver calls but I still don’t hear a thing
The voices in my head are calling and I still hear the rivers sing
The lady waits as I stand watching wild running wind
But with my family gone I fear the mortals wrath
My kin has had no chance to figure out the math
Yet still the lady waits as I stand watching Wild Running Wind

Fairy Wings
- Ashling Nehring©2005
May 27th, 2006
Thus little winged creatures fly
to the moon and through the sky
fairies work no time for play
thus now comes the brack of day
the fairies stay tucked away
night comes once more
then the fairies come to finish their work
Hear is winter then the spring
then the princess fairy spreads her wings
she comes to find a new love then
the seasons start all over again

When night awakes and the rooster shakes with its morning cry
a dainty little fairy mouth gives out a mourning sigh
a rose with petals smooth and soft on which the fairy lay
is just the kind of bed to start the fairy’s day
When brushing her hair and putting on her days wear the fairy does complain
because when she has to start her work it just isn’t the same
she longs to have some helpers to help her with her work
then her spirt and bright smile just might give a little perk
When going for help and asking an elf she is putting herself in a dangerous postion
but when the elf led her to the queen her royal highness had come to a desision
and let her have some fairy helpers to complete the propostion
now the rose fairy is happy as can be if she will ever let you see
how fun her fairy work can be
